Mr. Cabdi, thank you for waiting. Your blood test confirms an HIV diagnosis. I know this is difficult news, but treatment today is highly effective.
Ilaahay, sidaas baa dhacday? Haddii aan la noolaanayo xaaskayga iyo carruurtayda hoy, miyaan u gudbin karaa fayraska HIV-ga?
That's an important question. If you take your medication daily and your viral load becomes undetectable, you cannot transmit HIV to your wife or children through normal contact.
Waan ka helay, waad igu mahadsan tahay. Immisa jeer ayaan daawada qaadan doonaa, ilaa iyo qiyaastii lacagta ay igu kici doonto?
You'll take one tablet every morning, and Medicare covers most of the cost. Please attend Liverpool Hospital's clinic monthly for blood monitoring.
Sidee baan xaaskayga ku sheegaa xaaladan? Miyay tahay inay iyana usbuuc kasta ku imaato tijaabo, ama sidee bay u shaqaysaa?
Your wife can test confidentially at this same clinic. I can book her an appointment for next Wednesday morning, if that suits your schedule.
Waa fiican, waan la yeeli doonaa. Laakiin ma khatar buu yahay haddii carruurtayda ay wax cunto la wadaagaan ama aan dhunkado?
Sharing utensils, hugging, or kissing your children will never transmit HIV. Only blood or sexual contact carries risk, and your treatment removes that risk too.
Waan kugu mahadsan tahay xaqiijintaas. Ma tahay inaan shaqadayda uga sheego xaaladan, mise waa qarsoodi?
You don't need to inform your employer. Your diagnosis stays confidential, and daily medication won't affect your work performance at all.
Mahadsanid, waan fahmay dhammaan. Waxaan iyo xaaskayga nimidoonaa Arbacada si ay u tijaabsato.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
- medicareKu dhawaaq sida ay tahay 'Medicare' - waa magac nooc ah oo aan loo turjumin, sidaas awgeed si toos ah ugu sheeg Soomaaliga.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.
