NAATI CCL Test Dates 2026 and How to Book

Booking the CCL test is not like booking an English test where sittings run every week in every capital city. Sessions are scheduled by language and by demand, the seats are finite, and several of the deadlines are hard. This guide sets out what NAATI publishes about scheduling, applying, rescheduling and refunds, so you can pick a date with your eyes open. How often CCL tests are run

NAATI's test schedule page says the schedule is set based on the demand for each test and is a guide only. For the Credentialed Community Language test, the entry reads "Monthly or at least 4 times a year": tests are run frequently, with high demand languages tested every month and low demand languages tested at least 4 times per year.

That means the honest answer to "when is the next CCL test in my language" depends entirely on which of the 55 CCL languages you are sitting. A Punjabi or Mandarin candidate is usually looking at a monthly rhythm. A candidate in a smaller language may be looking at a handful of sittings across the year, which makes the booking window far more important. Where the dates live, and why they vanish

There are two places NAATI publishes dates, and they carry two different warnings.

The Find a Test Date search on the NAATI website is filtered by test type and language. NAATI states plainly that this search function is not live: it refreshes daily and only displays test dates with available seats, and that due to rostering and staffing requirements, availability may change after the search results are displayed.

The CCL test page adds the other half of the warning: test dates are shown live, which means they may have already been booked by other candidates by the time you go to book through myNAATI.

The practical reading of both statements is the same. A date you can see today is not a seat you hold. Nothing is reserved until you have selected the date and paid inside myNAATI.

All tests are scheduled and listed in Sydney/Melbourne time (AET). NAATI asks you to check how your time zone aligns with the time listed. Applying: the three steps before you can pick a date

NAATI splits the process into three steps, and you cannot skip ahead.

Step one. Register and log in to your myNAATI account and submit an application. To submit it, you need your full name (given names and family name), date of birth, gender, country of birth, address, email address, phone number, a photo of your face similar to what you would submit with a passport application, and a scan of an identity document such as a valid passport or Australian driver's licence. NAATI publishes the photo requirements and the full list of accepted ID documents on its site.

Step two. NAATI processes your application by checking the information submitted, generally within two business days, and you receive an email once your application is processed. NAATI will reject your application if you do not upload a scan of an identity document.

Step three. Once approved, you are invited by email from noreply@naati.com.au to select a test date. You log back in to myNAATI, choose your session, and pay the test fee at that point. Full costs are in our CCL fees guide.

There are no training prerequisites to sit the CCL test, so there is nothing to complete before you apply.

The booking deadline: 1 week before the test

Bookings for CCL test sessions close 1 week prior to the test date. After this time, the test session will no longer be available for booking. The Find a Test Date page states the same rule from the other direction: tests must be booked a minimum number of weeks in advance, and CCL sits in the 1 week group.

Work backwards from that. If your application still needs approval, and approval is generally within two business days, then leaving your application until eight days before a session is cutting it very fine.

Rescheduling: free, but only up to 8 days out

Rescheduling is allowed up to 8 days before the test, and there is no cost to reschedule. You cannot reschedule a test within 8 days of the test.

NAATI gives a worked example: if your test is scheduled for 9am on 10 July 2026, you can reschedule up until 8:59am on 2 July 2026.

Candidates are responsible for rescheduling their own test through their myNAATI account. The mechanics are that you reject your test session in myNAATI and then select another test date, which brings you back to the availability problem above: the replacement date has to actually exist and have a seat.

Cancelling and refunds

You are eligible for a refund of 75% of your test fee if you cancel your test at least 1 hour prior to the scheduled start time, and NAATI processes the 75% refund within 14 days in most cases. You request the refund through myNAATI.

Two other no-refund situations are worth knowing before you book. If you miss your test date or time, you are not eligible for a refund or a reschedule. And if your equipment is not suitable and the test cannot proceed, NAATI says failure to make sure your equipment is suitable may result in your test being invalidated or cancelled with no refund.

What happens between booking and test day

Booking is not the last thing you do. NAATI's candidate instructions set out a sequence with its own deadlines:

• One week before your test day, you receive an email from ProctorExam with instructions on how to set up for your test. If it has not arrived a week out, check your spam folder, then email onlinetesting@naati.com.au.
• You must complete a system check at least 48 hours before your test, using the same setup you will use on the day: same computer, phone, location and internet connection.
• You receive the link for your actual test from ProctorExam only once you have completed your system check.
• NAATI sends a reminder email 10 days prior to your test date from noreply@naati.com.au.
• On the day, your confirmation email tells you what time you can access the test until. NAATI recommends accessing the test at the start of the test session, as it may take up to 15 minutes to complete the test setup.

A booking checklist

• Decide your language and check whether it is likely to be a monthly or an at-least-quarterly schedule.
• Submit the myNAATI application early, with the ID scan attached, so approval is not on your critical path.
• Treat a visible date as unconfirmed until you have paid.
• Check the AET listing time against your own time zone.
• Diarise two dates the moment you book: your reschedule cut-off (8 days before) and your system check deadline (48 hours before).
• Book only a date you can realistically hold. A 75% refund still costs you a quarter of $814.
