Nepali practice topics and interpretation examples

Language rules for Nepali CCL

The Nepali entry refers to General Policies A and B. It does not set a separate Nepali dialect, number-conversion or honorific rule.

Policy A covers regional variation: candidates need to understand variation within the language, and markers allow for it. Policy B allows limited English borrowing that is normal and widely understood in the language community in Australia, even where another word exists. This does not mean any English word can replace an interpretation.

Easy to miss: 'Next Tuesday at 10am' must come through as morning 10, and 'before then' is the deadline for the decision, not the hearing itself.

Easy to miss: 'बाबु' is an affectionate address to the younger officer, not literally 'father' or 'baby'; keep the refusal of court clear.

Questions people ask

Which variety of Nepali should I use in the CCL test?

NAATI's general policies apply: examiners allow for regional variation (Policy A), and English words that Nepali speakers in Australia regularly and commonly use are not penalised (Policy B). Excessive use of English is still one of NAATI's listed common mistakes.

How often is the Nepali CCL test held?

NAATI tests high-demand languages every month and the others at least 4 times a year, and bookings close 1 week before each session. As of 22 Oct 2026, 1:00 pm (Sydney time), NAATI lists 29 upcoming Nepali sessions, 27 of them with seats; the next one with seats is Thu 5 Nov 2026. The current list is at naaticcl.com/naati-ccl-test-dates/nepali: we check it every 2 hours, and NAATI updates its own list about once a day.

Is the NAATI CCL test available in Nepali?

Yes. Nepali is one of the languages NAATI tests for the CCL. Passing can support a claim for 5 points towards your skilled migration score. We currently publish 163 Nepali practice dialogues.

Do I need a NAATI CCL Nepali coaching class?

Not necessarily. naaticcl.com is a self-practice site, not a coaching class: you work through the 163 Nepali dialogues and 81 mock tests on your own, at exam speed, and the AI marks each segment for what you kept, left out, changed or added. A class adds a teacher who listens and corrects you; if you want one, see the Nepali CCL teachers and classes list on naaticcl.com. The score here is our estimate, not a NAATI result.

How many marks do I need to pass?

63 out of 90, and at least 29 on each of the two dialogues. Marks come off for information you leave out, add, or change, and for language quality. We mark against the same published categories; the score is our own model's estimate, not a NAATI result.

How much does the real Nepali CCL test cost?

AUD $814 (NAATI fees for 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027), and you do not know the result until NAATI finalises it. That is the whole reason this site exists: know where you stand before you pay to sit it.

Can I wear headphones in the test?

No — no headsets, headphones or earphones of any kind. You use the computer's speakers and microphone. Older guides that tell you to wear wired headphones will get you caught out on the day. Only one screen is allowed at any time; your phone or tablet acts as the second camera.

Can I take notes?

Yes, with a pen and loose sheets of paper only. No typing of notes, and no electronic resources — dictionaries, web browsing, live captions or transcription — during the test.

What if I miss something — can I hear a segment again?

Yes. One repeated segment per dialogue is allowed without penalty. Further repeats incur mark deductions.

How long until I get my result, and how long is it valid?

NAATI's candidate instructions say results come by email within 4–6 weeks; they are issued individually as they are finalised, so two people who sat on the same day can hear back on different days. The result is valid for five years from the date of issue (three years if issued before 9 August 2022) and cannot be extended. You can apply to sit again six months before expiry, according to NAATI’s FAQ.

Is CCL still worth 5 migration points in Nepali?

Yes. Credentialed Community Language points remain in the 189, 190 and 491 points tests. CCL is not a professional interpreting credential — passing it does not qualify you to work as an interpreter.
