Ukrainian practice topics and interpretation examples
Language rules for Ukrainian CCL
The Ukrainian entry expects Standard Ukrainian. Regional variations and dialects are accepted if an average Ukrainian speaker would understand them, while candidates should avoid colloquialisms in vocabulary, grammar, stress and pronunciation. Candidates should follow the listed references or other relevant resources approved by the Language Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
When an authority has no official Ukrainian translation, candidates should use its English name and transliteration or transcription. Limited borrowing is accepted where no Ukrainian equivalent is available and the borrowed words are commonly used in Standard Ukrainian; a commonly used Ukrainian word is preferred, and excessive Anglicisms are penalised. The vocative case and polite form should be used appropriately when greeting and addressing someone in the second person.

Questions people ask
Which variety of Ukrainian should I use in the CCL test?
Standard Ukrainian is expected; regional variation is not penalised if an average Ukrainian speaker would understand it. Borrowed words are acceptable where there is no Ukrainian equivalent, but excessive Anglicisms are penalised. For names of authorities with no official Ukrainian translation, use the English name and its transliteration or transcription.
How often is the Ukrainian CCL test held?
NAATI tests high-demand languages every month and the others at least 4 times a year, and bookings close 1 week before each session. As of 22 Oct 2026, 1:00 pm (Sydney time), NAATI lists 8 upcoming Ukrainian sessions, 8 of them with seats; the next one with seats is Wed 18 Nov 2026. The current list is at naaticcl.com/naati-ccl-test-dates/ukrainian: we check it every 2 hours, and NAATI updates its own list about once a day.
Is the NAATI CCL test available in Ukrainian?
Yes. Ukrainian is one of the languages NAATI tests for the CCL. Passing can support a claim for 5 points towards your skilled migration score. We currently publish 57 Ukrainian practice dialogues.
Do I need a NAATI CCL Ukrainian coaching class?
Not necessarily. naaticcl.com is a self-practice site, not a coaching class: you work through the 57 Ukrainian dialogues and 28 mock tests on your own, at exam speed, and the AI marks each segment for what you kept, left out, changed or added. A class adds a teacher who listens and corrects you; if you want one, see the Ukrainian CCL teachers and classes list on naaticcl.com. The score here is our estimate, not a NAATI result.
How many marks do I need to pass?
63 out of 90, and at least 29 on each of the two dialogues. Marks come off for information you leave out, add, or change, and for language quality. We mark against the same published categories; the score is our own model's estimate, not a NAATI result.
How much does the real Ukrainian CCL test cost?
AUD $814 (NAATI fees for 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027), and you do not know the result until NAATI finalises it. That is the whole reason this site exists: know where you stand before you pay to sit it.
Can I wear headphones in the test?
No — no headsets, headphones or earphones of any kind. You use the computer's speakers and microphone. Older guides that tell you to wear wired headphones will get you caught out on the day. Only one screen is allowed at any time; your phone or tablet acts as the second camera.
Can I take notes?
Yes, with a pen and loose sheets of paper only. No typing of notes, and no electronic resources — dictionaries, web browsing, live captions or transcription — during the test.
What if I miss something — can I hear a segment again?
Yes. One repeated segment per dialogue is allowed without penalty. Further repeats incur mark deductions.
How long until I get my result, and how long is it valid?
NAATI's candidate instructions say results come by email within 4–6 weeks; they are issued individually as they are finalised, so two people who sat on the same day can hear back on different days. The result is valid for five years from the date of issue (three years if issued before 9 August 2022) and cannot be extended. You can apply to sit again six months before expiry, according to NAATI’s FAQ.
Is CCL still worth 5 migration points in Ukrainian?
Yes. Credentialed Community Language points remain in the 189, 190 and 491 points tests. CCL is not a professional interpreting credential — passing it does not qualify you to work as an interpreter.
