NAATI Refund and Cancellation Policy for the CCL Test

Updated 6 November 2026 · Facts checked against NAATI pages on 6 November 2026.

Quick answer: NAATI's cancellation policy for the CCL test has three lines. You can reschedule at no cost up to 8 days before the test. If you cancel at least 1 hour before the start you can get 75% of the fee back, usually within 14 days. After the start time, or if you do not attend, there is no refund. All of it is done in myNAATI under Manage My Tests.

What each choice costs on the $814 fee

What happens Deadline Money back You lose
You reschedule Up to 8 days before the test Nothing is charged $0
You cancel At least 1 hour before the scheduled start 75%: $610.50 $203.50
You cancel late After the scheduled start None $814
You do not attend No deadline helps None $814
Your equipment fails the requirements On the day The test may be cancelled with no refund $814
NAATI has to reschedule Not your choice A new date or a refund, you choose $0

The $814 is NAATI's 2026–27 CCL fee, valid from 1 July 2026 until 30 June 2027. The dollar amounts are our arithmetic on that fee; NAATI publishes the percentage.

NAATI's example, with dates

NAATI uses a test at 9am on 10 July 2026 to show the lines:

The line is drawn at the minute, in Sydney/Canberra time. If you live in another time zone, work out your own deadline before you rely on it. NAATI says all its test times are in AET and that you should check how your time zone aligns with the time listed.

How to reschedule your CCL test

NAATI says candidates are responsible for rescheduling their own test through their myNAATI account. NAATI staff cannot book a test date for you. The mechanics are two moves: reject your test session, then select another test date.

  1. Open myNAATI and select the Manage My Tests icon.
  2. Select Manage next to the test.
  3. Select the Change or Reject Test Date button.
  4. Select Reject This Test Session and follow the prompt.
  5. Select another available date.

Look before you reject. NAATI's Find a Test Date search refreshes daily and only shows dates with available seats, and availability may change after the results are displayed. Our NAATI CCL test dates page shows the next session with seats by language, checked every 2 hours, but myNAATI is the only place that can confirm a seat.

How to request a NAATI refund

NAATI publishes six steps on its refunds page:

  1. Select the Manage My Tests icon.
  2. Select Manage next to the test to be rejected.
  3. Select the Change or Reject Test Date button.
  4. Select Reject This Test Session and follow the prompt to select Reject.
  5. Go back to the Manage My Tests menu. You will now see a Request Refund button.
  6. Select Request Refund and complete the details.

The refund goes back to the original payment method. If you paid by direct deposit, you enter your bank details at step 6. NAATI shows a pop-up to confirm the request has been submitted, and says the 75% refund is processed within 14 days in most cases. If you are unsure whether you are eligible, NAATI asks you to contact info@naati.com.au.

If you are sick or something comes up

NAATI's FAQ answers "I got sick and want to change my test date" by pointing to the Terms and Conditions. Those terms set out no separate illness rule for rescheduling a CCL test, so the same two deadlines apply: reschedule up to 8 days before, cancel at least 1 hour before.

Two other lines in the terms are worth knowing:

Changing your language

NAATI lets you change your test language at no cost if the test date is 8 days or more away. Inside 8 days, the change counts as a cancellation: you are eligible for the 75% refund, and you are invoiced for a new test fee in the new language. Language requests go to info@naati.com.au.

Late, absent or the wrong equipment

These are the ways people lose the whole fee.

If NAATI changes your test

NAATI says tests can occasionally be rescheduled or cancelled at short notice, and lists technical problems with the test system and staff illness among the reasons. If it has to reschedule your test, you get the choice of a new test date or the opportunity for a refund.

If something goes wrong during your test, report it within 24 hours. NAATI says issues reported after that will not be taken into consideration. The CCL candidate instructions give onlinetesting@naati.com.au for this, and the Terms and Conditions give info@naati.com.au with your customer number in the subject line. NAATI says its investigation may take up to two weeks.

"To be scheduled" and the refund button

Some candidates see "to be scheduled" on the Manage My Tests screen, with applying for a refund as the only option. NAATI's FAQ says this message means there are no test spots available right now, asks you to be patient, and advises checking myNAATI regularly. So that screen does not mean your booking has failed. Our booking guide explains how applying, booking and paying fit together.

Keep the date, move it or cancel it?

What is the NAATI cancellation policy for the CCL test?

Rescheduling is allowed up to 8 days before the test at no cost. NAATI's FAQ sends this question to its Terms and Conditions, which list no separate illness rule for rescheduling. More than 8 days out you can reschedule at no cost. Inside 8 days the published option is cancelling at least 1 hour before the start. NAATI says it is your responsibility to promptly notify it if illness may affect your test day.

What happens if I miss my NAATI CCL test?

How do I turn this guide into practice?

  1. Choose your test language above and open a dialogue. Listen to a segment, then interpret it into the other language, using the speaker’s first person.
  2. Finish the recording and continue through the remaining segments. If marking fails, use the recovery option rather than starting the whole dialogue again.
  3. After the dialogue, sign in free to see the complete report. Check what meaning was missed before choosing more practice. An unfinished dialogue can be resumed on the same device.
