NAATI Test Locations: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth
Updated 6 November 2026 · Facts checked against NAATI pages on 6 November 2026.
Quick answer: There is no CCL test centre. NAATI delivers the CCL online only, so you sit it on your own computer wherever you live, and the dates do not change by city. All sessions are listed in Sydney/Melbourne time. NAATI's five in-person locations (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide) are used for other tests.
No test centre, just your own desk. Try the same task at yours: interpret one dialogue now.
Which language is your CCL test in?
Practise one dialogue free →AI marks it segment by segment. Your first two dialogues are free.
Your turn: interpret it aloud in the other language.
Start this dialogue free →Most exams have a hall and a seat number, so it is natural to look for one in your city. The CCL does not work that way. The only thing that changes between cities is the time on your clock, and that is the part worth checking before you book. To see what you would actually be doing at your desk, interpret one dialogue on the NAATI CCL practice test.
NAATI test dates: Sydney, Melbourne, Perth
NAATI schedules the CCL by language, not by city. High demand languages are tested every month, and low demand languages at least 4 times a year. Nothing on NAATI's CCL pages splits dates by city, because every session is online.
Dates appear in two places:
- NAATI's Find a Test Date search. It refreshes daily and shows only dates with available seats. NAATI warns that availability can change after the results are displayed.
- myNAATI. This is where you actually book, once your application is approved. Other candidates may already have taken a date you saw elsewhere.
We keep NAATI CCL test dates by language in one place. Bookings close 1 week before the test date, and the full process is in how to book.
NAATI exam in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth: your local time
NAATI lists all online tests in Sydney/Melbourne time and asks you to check how your own time zone lines up. Daylight saving is what catches people out: New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia change their clocks from October to April, while Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not.
If a session is listed at 9am, your clock shows:
| Where you live | April to October | October to April |
|---|---|---|
| Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart | 9am | 9am |
| Brisbane | 9am | 8am |
| Adelaide | 8:30am | 8:30am |
| Darwin | 8:30am | 7:30am |
| Perth | 7am | 6am |
This table is our own conversion, not a NAATI schedule, and 9am is only an example. Your test confirmation email tells you what time you can access the test until. NAATI recommends starting at the beginning of the session because setup can take up to 15 minutes, and if you miss your test time you get neither a refund nor a reschedule.
NAATI exam at home
NAATI does not say where you must sit. It describes the conditions instead, and the location is checked at the start of the test:
- A location free from distractions, background noise and other people.
- A clear desk with only the devices and materials you need, plus pen and loose paper for notes.
- Other devices, including smart watches, switched off and in another room.
- Your personal computer. Work, university and library machines often run into problems reaching the platform.
- A private connection of at least 10mbps down and 1.5mbps up. Public, library, university and workplace connections can be blocked by firewalls.
For most candidates that means home. Choose the spot before your system check, which you must complete at least 48 hours before the test using the same computer, phone, location and internet connection you will use on the day. The whole list is in online test setup and equipment.
In-person NAATI test centres
NAATI does run in-person tests at five state testing locations: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. Those sessions are for other test types. NAATI offers in-person Certified Provisional Interpreter tests where there is high local demand, and holds Auslan tests both in person and online.
This is probably why people expect a CCL centre near them. If anyone tells you to travel to a centre for the CCL, check with NAATI first. If you are not sure which test you need, see NAATI test types.

You do not need an office for the CCL. You apply, book and see results in myNAATI, explained in the myNAATI login guide. NAATI says email is the easiest and quickest way to reach it, at info@naati.com.au, with a reply aimed for within 2 working days. The phone number is 1300 557 470. NAATI also warns that staff at an office may not be able to help and may direct you to email or call instead.
Classes and practice near you
A class in your city can still be useful, but it gives you no advantage on the test itself. Ask how a teacher works before you ask where they are: best NAATI coaching covers what to check.
Whatever you choose, rehearse under the same setup as the real test: your own computer, speakers instead of headphones, and handwritten notes. We have 5,000+ practice dialogues across more than 50 test languages, written to NAATI's published format. The Australian terms list covers the words those dialogues depend on, and the language list shows what is available for yours. Your first two full dialogues on the NAATI CCL practice test are AI-marked free. The score is our model's estimate, not a NAATI result.

You cannot sit the CCL at an office. NAATI also warns that staff may not be able to help if you visit in person and may direct you to email or call instead. The easiest way to reach NAATI is info@naati.com.au, and the phone number is 1300 557 470.

How do I turn this guide into practice?
- Choose your test language above and open a dialogue. Listen to a segment, then interpret it into the other language, using the speaker’s first person.
- Finish the recording and continue through the remaining segments. If marking fails, use the recovery option rather than starting the whole dialogue again.
- After the dialogue, sign in free to see the complete report. Check what meaning was missed before choosing more practice. An unfinished dialogue can be resumed on the same device.
A practice score is this site’s estimate, not an official NAATI result. See practice plans and allowances before purchasing.
Our NAATI CCL practice test marks your first practice test (two full dialogues) segment by segment with AI, free, in 54 languages; you see the score after a free email sign-in.
