Mrs Reddy, thanks for coming in today. Can you tell me how your vision has changed over the past few months?

That sounds like a cataract, which is clouding of the eye's natural lens. Surgery can restore your vision, and it's usually a straightforward day procedure.

At Fremantle Hospital, the public waiting list is about ten weeks. Medicare covers the surgery itself, though private health insurance can sometimes shorten the wait.

You won't need a general anaesthetic. We use local anaesthetic eye drops, so you'll stay awake but shouldn't feel pain. Sedation is available if you're anxious.

Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
- waiting list"వెయిటింగ్ లిస్ట్" అని ఇంగ్లీష్ పదాన్నే వాడాలి; అవసరమైతే "వేచి ఉండే జాబితా" అని చెప్పవచ్చు.
- medicare'Medicare' అని ఇంగ్లీష్ పేరునే యథాతథంగా చెప్పాలి, ఇది ప్రాపర్ నౌన్ కాబట్టి తెలుగులోకి అనువదించకూడదు.
