Consumer Affairs helpline, this is Daniel speaking. Could you tell me what's happened with your online laptop purchase?
Have you already contacted the seller directly about this, and did they mention any warranty terms or repair policy?
Under Australian Consumer Law, if a product has what's called a major fault, you're entitled to choose a refund or replacement — not just a repair.
A major failure means the product is unsafe, doesn't work the way it's supposed to, or you simply wouldn't have bought it knowing this beforehand.
That's definitely a major failure — shutting down from overheating is a safety risk. You can request a refund, and if the seller refuses, lodge a complaint with NSW Fair Trading.
No, the statutory guarantees under Australian Consumer Law apply whether or not you kept the warranty card. Your receipt or bank statement is enough proof of purchase.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Tamil dialogues · All languages
