Clogged Ear
GP (speaking English) and 病人 (speaking Afrikaans) talk through “Clogged Ear”. You interpret both ways — English into Afrikaans, and Afrikaans into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Take a seat, Mr Botha — you mentioned your right ear has felt blocked since the weekend. When did that start exactly?
Dit het Saterdagoggend begin, dokter. My regter oor voel effe toegestop, veral wanneer ek sluk.
Let me have a look. I can see quite a bit of wax built up in your right ear canal. Do you use cotton buds?
Nee, ek gebruik nie stokkies nie, maar ek het verlede naweek by die strand geswem.
I'll prescribe olive oil drops — put three drops in the right ear, twice daily, for five days to soften the wax.
Kan ek dit by enige apteek koop, en moet ek druppels in albei ore sit?
You can buy the drops at any pharmacy, even Chemist Warehouse. Only use them in the right ear — not in the left, since that one isn't blocked.
Goed, dankie. Wat as dit nie na vyf dae beter word nie?
If it isn't fully clear after five days, book another appointment — we may need an audiologist to remove the remaining wax.
Ek verstaan. Ek werk as onderwyser, so ek hoop dit is reg teen Maandag wanneer skool weer begin.
Avoid swimming and don't insert anything into your ear this week. Come back sooner if you feel pain or dizziness.
Dankie vir die verduideliking, dokter. Ek sal die druppels vanaand begin gebruik.

Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.
