Mr Kimaro, before we discuss treatment, can you describe exactly how your vision has changed over the past few months, especially at night?

That sounds consistent with cataracts — the lens inside your eye has become cloudy over time. Surgery can restore your sight, but it isn't urgent yet.

Not if we monitor it closely. When you're ready, we can schedule day surgery for you at Flinders Medical Centre here in Adelaide.

The procedure itself only takes about twenty minutes under local anaesthetic, and most patients go home the same day — you won't need an overnight stay.

After surgery, you'll use antibiotic drops four times daily for one week, and you mustn't drive for at least twenty-four hours.
