Thanks for coming in, Mr Lefebvre. The scan from Liverpool Hospital shows a mass in your liver, roughly four centimetres across, near the right lobe.

We can't confirm cancer without a biopsy. I'd like to book one this Thursday morning at the hospital's day surgery unit.
D'accord. Est-ce que je dois être à jeun avant la biopsie ? J'ai un peu peur de la douleur.
Yes, please fast for six hours beforehand and arrange someone to drive you home afterward, since you won't be able to drive yourself.

Results usually take about a week. If the biopsy confirms cancer, we'll refer you to the liver team at Liverpool Hospital for further treatment options.

If it's caught early, surgery or a liver transplant may be possible. If it's more advanced, we might use targeted therapy instead.
