Joining a Retail Workers' Union
Union Organiser (speaking English) and Warehouse Worker (speaking French) talk through “Joining a Retail Workers' Union”. You interpret both ways — English into French, and French into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Thanks for meeting me on your lunch break, Camille. I wanted to explain how joining the SDA union could support you at the Truganina distribution centre.
Merci d'être venue me voir.
The membership fee is about eight dollars a week, taken straight from your pay, and it covers legal advice plus help during any workplace dispute.
D'accord, ça me semble raisonnable. Mais si mon employeur apprenait que j'ai adhéré, est-ce qu'il pourrait me traiter différemment, ou même me licencier ?
No, that's not allowed. Under Australian workplace law, employers can't punish or dismiss you simply for joining a union — it's a protected right.
We're voting on the new enterprise agreement in three weeks, so if you join before then, you'll have a say in the ballot.
You can sign up online through the union's website tonight — there's no paperwork to bring in, and your coverage starts as soon as you submit it.
Yes, we can raise that rostering issue once you're a member — the union can request a meeting with management within the next fortnight.
Merci beaucoup, ça me rassure énormément.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All French dialogues · All languages
