Making a Will

Thanks for coming in today. I have your file here—you're looking to make a will. Could you start by telling me a bit about your situation?
早上好，谢谢您。我想立一份遗嘱，把我的房子和一些积蓄留给我太太和两个孩子。
Thank you. Since you'd like your wife and two children to benefit, could you tell me specifically how you'd like the estate divided between them, in percentages or shares?
太太拿百分之六十，房子留给她，剩下的百分之四十由两个孩子平分，各得百分之二十，这样安排您觉得可以吗？
That's clear. Now, you'll need to appoint an executor—someone you trust to carry out your wishes after you pass away. Who would you choose?
我想让我太太当遗嘱执行人，如果她不能履行的话，就由我哥哥来负责，这样可以吗？
Good choice. Please note your will must be signed in front of two witnesses, and they cannot be beneficiaries named in the will.
好的，明白了。那见证人可以是我们认识的朋友吗？只要他们不是遗嘱里的受益人就行吧？
Exactly. If either witness stands to inherit, that part of the will could become invalid. We'll arrange two independent witnesses here at the office.
明白了，谢谢你们安排见证人。整个手续大概需要多长时间才能完成？
Once everything is signed, our office will keep the original will in safe custody, and you'll receive a certified copy to keep at home. The whole process should take about two weeks.
