Good morning, congratulations on your baby. Today I'll help you register the birth and explain the paperwork you'll need for Medicare enrolment.

You'll need your baby's hospital discharge summary, your ID, and the birth registration form. Medicare enrolment can be done online or by post.

You can complete the paper birth registration form the hospital gave you, or call the Registry for help; once registered, you can order the certificate through Service NSW.

The hospital will notify your local child and family health service, and a nurse will contact you to arrange a home visit — checking feeding, weight, and how you're coping.
