Mr. Chan, thank you for coming in. I'd like to discuss your recent HIV test results with you now, if you're comfortable.

Your initial screening test came back reactive, which means we need to do a confirmatory test before we can be certain. This doesn't confirm HIV yet.
咁即係唔一定係陽性啦？要等幾耐先知道確診結果呀？
That's right, it's not confirmed. We'll send your sample to the lab, and results usually take about five working days to come back.
如果最後真係確診，係咪要轉去專科醫院跟進呀？
Yes, if it's confirmed, we'll refer you to Sydney Sexual Health Centre for specialist care and to start antiretroviral treatment straight away.
食藥係咪可以控制到？我驚會傳染俾我老婆，呢個係咪好大問題？
With consistent treatment, viral load can become undetectable, meaning it can't be transmitted sexually. But if you stop taking medication, the virus can return.
咁就好啲，我都想搵人傾吓，會唔會有輔導服務呀？
Yes, we have a counsellor here, and I can book you a follow-up appointment for Thursday at 10:30am to go through everything together.
