Good afternoon. I'm Dr. Whitfield, one of the GPs here at this Barwon Health clinic. What's brought your daughter in today?
Haar rechteroog is sinds maandagochtend rood en er komt geel vocht uit. 's Ochtends zitten haar wimpers helemaal vastgeplakt.
Is it only her right eye, or has the left eye started too? Does she complain of pain, or any change in her vision?
Nu doet het linkeroog ook mee, sinds gisteravond. Ze heeft geen pijn en haar zicht lijkt normaal. Ze gaat drie dagen per week naar het kinderdagverblijf.
This looks like acute infective conjunctivitis, likely bacterial given the yellow discharge. It's quite contagious, spreading easily through hand contact or shared towels.
Moet ze dan thuisblijven van het kinderdagverblijf? En mag ze zaterdag nog naar het zwembad, we hadden een verjaardagsfeestje gepland.

I'll prescribe antibiotic drops, four times daily for five days. Wash your hands after touching her eyes, and don't let her share towels or pillows.
Kan het ook een virus zijn in plaats van bacterieel? Ik wil niet dat ze onnodig antibiotica krijgt als het niet nodig is.
Given the thick yellow discharge, bacterial is more likely, so drops are appropriate. If she's not improving within three days, call Barwon Health's after-hours nurse line.
