Good afternoon, Mr. Devries. Can you tell me what changes you've noticed with your eyesight over the past few months, and whether it affects daily tasks?
Mijn ogen zijn de laatste maanden veel waziger geworden, vooral 's avonds zie ik fel licht en ik kan de krant bijna niet meer lezen.
Your examination shows a cataract clouding the lens of your left eye, which explains the blurred vision, glare at night, and difficulty reading small print.
Moet ik dan geopereerd worden? Ik ben achtenzeventig jaar en ik maak me zorgen of dat niet te riskant is op mijn leeftijd.
We can schedule day surgery at Frankston Hospital; the current public waiting list is about six weeks, though private insurance may allow an earlier date.
Krijg ik dan verdoving? Ik ben nogal bang voor pijn, dus ik wil graag weten hoe dat precies gaat tijdens de operatie.
The surgery uses local anaesthetic eye drops, so you won't feel pain, only mild pressure, and the whole procedure usually takes under twenty minutes.
Mag ik na de operatie meteen weer autorijden? En wordt dit door Medicare vergoed, of moet ik zelf bijbetalen?
You can't drive for twenty-four hours afterwards, and Medicare covers most of the standard surgery cost, though not any optional premium lens upgrade.
