How many weeks pregnant are you now, Mrs Bianchi? I'd like to arrange your glucose tolerance test at Nepean Hospital before you reach twenty-six weeks of pregnancy.

You'll need to fast for at least ten hours beforehand - please don't eat or drink anything except plain water after midnight tonight.

The test takes about two hours in total. We'll take three separate blood samples, then afterwards you can eat breakfast and head home.

If your results come back outside the normal range, we'll refer you to our diabetes in pregnancy clinic for extra monitoring, dietary advice and closer follow-up.
