Before you go today, let's review your new asthma inhalers carefully so you know exactly how and when to use each one, Mr. Rossi.

The blue puffer is your reliever, for sudden symptoms. The brown one is your preventer; use it twice daily, even if you don't feel any symptoms.

Yes, wait about thirty seconds between each puff, and always shake the inhaler well first so the medication mixes properly before you inhale.

Rinse your mouth with water after each dose to prevent a sore throat or oral thrush; otherwise, side effects from this dose are uncommon.

If your lips turn blue or you can't speak in full sentences after using the reliever, call triple zero immediately, and don't wait.
