Mr. Rostami, thanks for coming in today. Can you tell me when you first noticed the blockage in your right ear, and how it's affecting you?
Have you experienced any pain, discharge, or dizziness alongside the blocked feeling? Have you been swimming recently, perhaps at Bondi Beach?
I'll examine your ear now with an otoscope to check the eardrum. If it's just wax buildup, we can treat it here today without a referral.
It looks like compacted earwax, not an infection. I'll use microsuction to clear it — the procedure takes about fifteen minutes and shouldn't cause discomfort.
Afterwards, avoid inserting cotton buds or any objects into your ear canal. If it feels dry, you can use olive oil drops.
You can swim again after twenty-four hours, but avoid diving underwater for a few days. If hearing doesn't improve, book another appointment with us.
