Hello Mr Singh, I'm Sarah, the dietitian at Westmead Hospital. Dr Kaur referred you today because your recent blood tests showed high cholesterol linked to your weight.
Can you tell me what you usually eat in a day, and how much physical activity you do each week?
Your BMI is currently 32, which is in the obese range. If you don't make changes, your risk of diabetes will increase significantly.
Not necessarily. If you walk for thirty minutes daily and reduce your rice portion by a quarter, you can lose weight safely without medication.
You don't need to stop roti completely, just reduce it to one piece per meal. Let's review your progress in six weeks with a blood test.
Walking is enough for now, especially given your knee pain. Please book a follow-up appointment at Westmead Hospital in six weeks' time.
