Good morning, I'm the pre-admission nurse. Your knee surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday at Westmead Hospital. Do you have any allergies I should know about?
ਸਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ, ਜੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਐਲਰਜੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ। ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਰੋਜ਼ ਐਸਪਰਿਨ ਦੀ ਗੋਲੀ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਦਿਲ ਲਈ।
Thank you. Please stop eating solid food after midnight before your surgery. You may drink clear water up until two hours before arrival.
ਠੀਕ ਹੈ ਜੀ, ਮਤਲਬ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਵੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੀ ਸਕਦਾ? ਕਿੰਨੇ ਵਜੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ?
You must stop taking aspirin five days before the operation, as it can increase bleeding. Please inform your surgeon about this today.

Don't worry, your surgeon will review your heart condition first. An anaesthetist will also visit you before surgery to discuss the anaesthesia.
ਠੀਕ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਅਨੱਸਥੀਸੀਆ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਜਨਰਲ ਜਾਂ ਲੋਕਲ? ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ?
You will receive general anaesthesia, so you'll be fully asleep. Unless there are complications, the surgery itself should take about ninety minutes.

Most patients stay two to three days after this surgery. A physiotherapist will guide your recovery, and we'll arrange follow-up care before you leave.
