Let's check how bub is progressing today, Mrs Volkova. First, can you tell me if you've noticed any swelling in your ankles or hands this week?

That's fairly common at 28 weeks, but we'll still check your blood pressure and urine. Have you felt the baby moving normally, at least ten times a day?

Good. Your blood pressure today is 118 over 76, which is within the normal range. We also need to test for gestational diabetes.

Yes, you'll need to fast for at least eight hours beforehand. The test is done at Liverpool Hospital pathology, usually on a Monday morning.

You'll get results within three days. Please don't eat or drink anything except water after midnight before the test.

Your next check-up is in four weeks, unless the glucose test shows anything abnormal, in which case we'll bring it forward.
