Overcharged at the Supermarket
Consumer Affairs Advisor (speaking English) and Client (speaking French) talk through “Overcharged at the Supermarket”. You interpret both ways — English into French, and French into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Tell me exactly what happened when you noticed the price difference at the Woolworths store in Newcastle yesterday afternoon.
Did you keep the receipt from that purchase, and did you already speak to the store manager about the overcharge?
You can go back and ask the manager again for a full refund of the price difference; if he still refuses, you can lodge a formal complaint with NSW Fair Trading.
You can lodge the complaint online through the Fair Trading website, attaching a copy of your original receipt and any photos of the price tag as evidence.
You don't need to return anything to the store; you're only entitled to a refund of the six dollars and fifty cents you were overcharged.
Most overcharge complaints like yours are resolved fairly quickly once Fair Trading contacts the retailer directly, so you should hear back reasonably soon.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All French dialogues · All languages
