You've been charged with common assault after the altercation at the pub on Saturday night. Let's go through what happened and your bail conditions before we continue.
Were you granted bail, or are you currently in custody? I need to know if you can go home today or must remain in custody.
A charge doesn't create a conviction unless the court finds you guilty. Your bail also includes a condition: no contact with the complainant, Mrs Sharma.
If she contacts you, don't reply—call me straight away instead. Your family doesn't need to know unless this matter goes to a defended hearing.
Your matter is listed at Parramatta Local Court in three weeks. You must attend in person unless I arrange for the matter to be mentioned without you.
If you plead guilty, the matter proceeds straight to sentencing. If you plead not guilty, we'll have a defended hearing where the prosecution must prove the charge.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.

Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.
