Mr. Nakamura, your ultrasound shows a four-centimetre mass in the right lobe of your liver. We need a biopsy to confirm whether it's cancerous.
そうですか…やはり心配していた通りです。生検というのはどんな検査なんでしょうか。痛みはありますか。
The biopsy will take place this Thursday under local anaesthetic. It's a short procedure, usually about twenty minutes, and you'll be awake throughout.
二十分くらいで終わるんですね、少し安心しました。何か準備しておくことはありますか、食事の制限とか。
Please fast for six hours beforehand, no food or water. Afterwards, you won't be allowed to drive, so arrange someone to take you home.

Liver cancer is often linked to hepatitis B or C. Have you ever been diagnosed with hepatitis, or received the hepatitis B vaccine?
