Managing a Child's Asthma Attack at Nepean Hospital
Nurse (speaking English) and Mother (speaking Japanese) talk through “Managing a Child's Asthma Attack at Nepean Hospital”. You interpret both ways — English into Japanese, and Japanese into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Thanks for bringing Aiko in so quickly this afternoon. Can you tell me exactly what happened just before her breathing became difficult?
はい、公園で遊んでいたら急に咳が止まらなくなって、ゼーゼーという音がしました。顔色も少し青白く見えました。
Did you give her any reliever medication before arriving today, and did her lips or fingertips turn blue at any point?
はい、到着前にベントリンを六回、二十分の間に吸わせました。それでも唇が少し紫色になっていました。
We've given her oxygen and a nebuliser treatment already. Her oxygen levels are improving steadily, and she's breathing much more comfortably now.
先生、今回の発作の原因は何だったのでしょうか。花粉やほこりが関係しているのでしょうか。
Spring pollen counts are high across Western Sydney right now, and a recent cold virus can also trigger an asthma flare.
分かりました。今後、かかりつけ医に診てもらう必要がありますか。それとも専門医に紹介されるのでしょうか。
Please see your GP within one week for a review. If her symptoms don't improve, we'll refer her to a respiratory specialist.
ありがとうございます。家でどう対処すればいいか分かるように、喘息管理プランを書面でいただけますか。
Of course. Nepean Hospital will give you a written asthma management plan today, with a review in four weeks. If her breathing doesn't settle within ten minutes, call triple zero.
分かりました、ありがとうございます。四週間後に受診して、十分以内に落ち着かなければ救急に電話します。
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
- triple zero「トリプル・ゼロ、000番」のように数字を明示して伝える。番号ordinal(000)は西洋数字のまま述べる。
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Japanese dialogues · All languages
