Hello, I'm Nurse Claire from the emergency department here at the hospital. Can you tell me exactly when and how your son fell and hit his head?

Did he lose consciousness at any point, or vomit afterwards? Also, has he complained of a headache or blurred vision since then?

We'll do a CT scan at Royal North Shore Hospital and keep him under observation for about four hours, just to be safe.

The scan itself is very safe and painless. If he's admitted for further care, you won't be charged directly for this assessment.

If he vomits again, becomes very drowsy, or seems confused at home, bring him straight back to the emergency department, day or night.
