Hepatitis B spreads through blood and body fluids, not through everyday contact, so hugging or sharing meals won't infect them, but they should get tested and vaccinated.

Yes, ideally within the next few weeks. The vaccine is usually given as three doses over six months, and Medicare covers the cost for eligible family members.
