Overseas Licence Conversion

Good morning, welcome to the service centre. I understand you want to convert your overseas licence. How long have you held it?
你好。我的驾照是国内拿的，已经开了八年车了。上个月刚拿到永居签证。
Congratulations. As a permanent resident, you can drive on your overseas licence for a limited period, then you must convert it.
我听朋友说要重新考试，是真的吗？需要考笔试还是路考？
That depends on the licence country. In your case you will need the knowledge test first, and then a practical driving test.
笔试有中文版本吗？我的英文日常交流没问题，但是专业词汇有点担心。
Yes, the knowledge test is available in many languages including Chinese. The practical driving test itself is conducted in English, with only you and the testing officer in the car.
太好了。我需要准备什么文件？驾照要不要先翻译公证？
Bring your passport, proof of address, your licence, and a translation by an approved translator if it is not in English.
好的。费用大概是多少？考试没通过的话可以重考吗？
There is a fee for each test and for the licence itself. If you fail, you can book again, but you pay the test fee each time.

Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
