Cataract Surgery Consultation
Ophthalmology Nurse (speaking English) and Patient (speaking Portuguese) talk through “Cataract Surgery Consultation”. You interpret both ways — English into Portuguese, and Portuguese into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Mr. Carvalho, thank you for coming in today. Dr. Nguyen has reviewed your scans and confirmed you have cataracts developing in both eyes, though the left is more advanced.
The left eye is more advanced, so we'll operate on that one first. The surgery itself takes about twenty minutes and is done as day surgery, so you'll go home the same day.
We use local anaesthetic eye drops during the procedure, so you won't feel any pain, only some mild pressure while the surgeon works.
You won't be able to drive yourself home afterwards, so you'll need someone to collect you from Sydney Eye Hospital that afternoon, even if you feel fine.
That's good to hear. We'll book a follow-up appointment for one week after the surgery to check your vision and make sure everything is healing properly.
Medicare covers the public waiting list, but if you'd prefer a shorter wait, private health insurance could reduce that to around six weeks instead.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Portuguese dialogues · All languages
