Mr Singh, you're charged with assault after the incident outside the Parramatta pub last Friday at 10pm. Can you tell me exactly what happened before you struck the other man?
ਮੈਡਮ, ਉਹ ਬੰਦਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗਾਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਾਲਰ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਧੱਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਮੈਂ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪਰੇ ਧੱਕਿਆ।

Under the Local Court process, self-defense can be a valid claim if your response was reasonable and proportionate to the threat you faced.

Your matter will be listed at Parramatta Local Court in two weeks. If the magistrate accepts self-defense, the charge could be dismissed entirely.
