Cataract Surgery Pre-Op Call
Ophthalmic Nurse (speaking English) and 患者 (speaking Sinhala) talk through “Cataract Surgery Pre-Op Call”. You interpret both ways — English into Sinhala, and Sinhala into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Mr Perera, I'm calling from Liverpool Hospital's Eye Clinic to confirm the details of your cataract surgery, which is scheduled for next Thursday.
Your surgery is scheduled for seven-thirty in the morning, and you must not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before.
The procedure uses only local anaesthetic, so you will stay awake the whole time but feel no pain at all. It usually takes about twenty minutes to complete.
You won't be able to drive for at least twenty-four hours afterwards, unless someone else can drive you home from the hospital that day.
We'll book your follow-up appointment for one week later at the clinic, and give you antibiotic eye drops to use four times daily.
Medicare covers most of the surgeon's fee for this procedure, but if you have private health insurance, it may reduce any remaining out-of-pocket cost.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.

Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Sinhala dialogues · All languages
