Mrs. Fischer, welcome back to the Royal Hospital for Women. How have you been feeling since your last visit at twenty-six weeks?
Danke, es geht mir eigentlich ganz gut, nur bin ich abends oft sehr müde und meine Knöchel schwellen manchmal leicht an.
That's common at this stage, but we should keep an eye on it. I'd like to check your blood pressure now and book your glucose tolerance test.
Okay, gut. Wann findet dieser Test statt, und muss ich davor irgendetwas Besonderes beachten?
You're booked for next Thursday at eight a.m. You must fast for ten hours beforehand; if you eat, we'll need to reschedule the test.
Verstanden. Darf ich in dieser Zeit wenigstens Wasser trinken, oder ist das auch nicht erlaubt?
A small amount of water is fine, but no coffee, tea, juice, or food. The test itself takes about two hours.
Und wann bekomme ich die Ergebnisse? Ich mache mir ein bisschen Sorgen, weil meine Mutter Diabetes hat.
Results usually come back within two to three days. Since your mother has diabetes, we'll monitor you closely, but many women manage this with diet alone.
