Your antenatal blood test shows you have chronic hepatitis B, so we'll need a specific plan for your baby's birth and vaccinations.

There's a small risk of passing hepatitis B to your baby during delivery, so within twelve hours of birth, your baby needs immunoglobulin and the first vaccine dose.

The National Immunisation Program schedule gives a hepatitis B dose at birth, then further doses at two, four and six months, combined in one hexavalent vaccine.

Breastfeeding is safe and won't increase transmission risk, provided your baby received the birth dose and immunoglobulin promptly after delivery.
