Mr. Tanaka, thank you for waiting patiently today. Your blood results have come back from the lab, and I need to go through the HIV test findings with you now.

The test confirms you are HIV positive, but that is not the same as having AIDS, and with modern treatment, this condition is now very manageable.

With daily antiretroviral therapy, most patients reach an undetectable viral load within about six months, and can then live a long, essentially normal life.

Your diagnosis remains strictly confidential between you and this clinic. We will not tell your employer or family unless you give written consent, or the law requires it.
