Mr. Hodžić, your cataract surgery is booked at Nepean Hospital next Thursday. It's day surgery, lasting about twenty minutes, done under local anaesthetic while you stay awake.

Yes, you'll be awake but lightly sedated. The eye is fully numbed, so you won't feel pain, and a drape blocks your view of the instruments.

Right after surgery your vision will be blurry, not clear. It usually sharpens within twenty-four hours, and by your next-day check-up you'll notice real improvement.
Hoće li me oko boljeti nakon operacije, i koliko dugo traje ta nelagoda?
You may feel mild grittiness, not sharp pain. That discomfort usually settles within two to three days. Antibiotic drops four times daily help it heal faster.
Koliko dugo trebam koristiti te kapi, i moram li ih koristiti tačno u isto vrijeme svaki dan?
Use the drops four times daily for one week, then twice daily for another week. They don't need the exact same time, just evenly spaced.
Poslije operacije ne mogu voziti. Može li bolnica organizirati prevoz, ili taksi za mene?
The hospital can't arrange a taxi directly, but we'll give you a community transport contact number. You may book your own taxi, though you mustn't drive for twenty-four hours.
