Clogged Ear Irrigation Appointment
Doctor (speaking English) and Patient (speaking Bulgarian) talk through “Clogged Ear Irrigation Appointment”. You interpret both ways — English into Bulgarian, and Bulgarian into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

What's been bothering your ear lately? Can you tell me how long you've had this blocked, muffled feeling, and whether it's affecting your hearing at all?
Barwon Health?
You can come in next Thursday at ten a.m. for the irrigation, but you'll first need to use olive oil ear drops for a few days beforehand.
Use the drops twice daily for three days before your appointment, to soften the wax. The procedure itself only takes about five minutes.
It's generally very safe, but we won't proceed with the irrigation if we see any sign of a perforated eardrum during the examination.
Medicare?
If the clinic bulk-bills through Medicare, there's no out-of-pocket cost for the irrigation appointment, though some clinics may charge a small gap fee.
Please avoid swimming or getting any water in that ear for at least twenty-four hours after the irrigation, to prevent infection.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.
