Joining the Union at a Geelong Manufacturing Plant
Union Organiser (speaking English) and Factory Worker (speaking Dutch) talk through “Joining the Union at a Geelong Manufacturing Plant”. You interpret both ways — English into Dutch, and Dutch into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Hello, thanks for meeting with me today. I'm from the AMWU, and I wanted to talk about union membership at your workplace here in Geelong.
The union negotiates pay rates, handles disputes with management, and offers legal support if you're ever unfairly dismissed. Membership isn't compulsory, but it does protect you.
Membership costs eight dollars fifty a week, deducted directly from your pay. You can cancel anytime, and there's no lock-in contract.
If a dispute arises, we can request a meeting with your supervisor and, if needed, escalate to the Fair Work Commission. You won't face this alone.
Dat stelt me gerust.
You can sign up online through the AMWU website, or I can give you a paper form now. It only takes a few minutes.
Ik denk dat ik lid word. Vanaf wanneer geldt het lidmaatschap dan precies?
Great choice. Your membership starts as soon as we submit the form, usually within 24 hours. I'll also send you our next meeting details.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Dutch dialogues · All languages
