Good afternoon, Mrs. de Vries. It's been five days since your breast reconstruction surgery here at Epworth Freemasons Hospital in Melbourne. How have you been feeling overall today?
Dank u wel, dokter. Ik voel me best moe, en er is wat zwelling rond het litteken, maar de pijn is nu wel iets minder dan gisteren.
I can see some redness around the incision site. Have you experienced any fever, chills, or unusual pain since the surgery?
Nee, ik heb geen koorts gehad, maar het voelt wel wat strak aan, vooral als ik mijn arm optil.
We'll remove the drainage tube today, since it's no longer needed. Have you noticed how much fluid has been collecting, and what colour it is?
Er zit best veel vocht in het zakje, misschien wel honderd milliliter, en de kleur is lichtroze, niet rood meer.
That's a good sign, and everything looks like it's healing well. I'd like to see you again in two weeks for a follow-up here at Epworth Freemasons.
Dat is goed om te horen. Mag ik dan volgende maand alweer beginnen met werken, of moet ik nog langer wachten?
You shouldn't lift anything heavier than three kilograms for the next six weeks, or you risk damaging the reconstruction and delaying your recovery.
Begrepen, ik zal voorzichtig zijn. Moet ik ook een speciale crème gebruiken voor het litteken, of is dat niet nodig?
Once the wound has fully closed, use silicone sheets on the scar twice daily, and avoid direct sun exposure for at least three months.
Oké, dat doe ik. Ik zal ook extra opletten met zonlicht, vooral nu de zomer eraan komt.
