Good afternoon, Mr de Groot. I'm Sarah, the pre-admission nurse coordinating your knee replacement surgery at Wollongong Hospital next Thursday. Could you please confirm your full date of birth for me?

Before we proceed, are you currently taking any blood thinners, such as warfarin, aspirin, or any other regular prescription medications at home?

You'll need to stop taking the warfarin five days before surgery, unless your cardiologist specifically advises a different plan for your heart condition.
