Thanks for coming in, Mr Baumgartner. Tell me exactly what happened when you tried to return the faulty phone to JB Hi-Fi last week, and what they told you.
Ich habe das Handy erst elf Tage benutzt, dann hat es plötzlich aufgehört zu laden. Der Verkäufer hat gesagt, sie reparieren es nur, ein Geld zurück gibt es nicht.
Under Australian Consumer Law, a major fault like a phone that won't charge properly entitles you to a refund, repair or replacement, entirely your choice.
Aber wenn ich zurückgehe und sie immer noch nein sagen, was mache ich dann? Ich will nicht wieder mit leeren Händen nach Hause gehen.
If the store still refuses to help, ask them clearly to put their refusal in writing. That letter becomes important evidence when you approach NCAT.

NCAT is a tribunal, not a full court, though its orders are legally binding. You must attend the hearing yourself, either in person or by phone; sending documents alone isn't enough.

There's a modest filing fee, but it's usually refunded if you win the case. You generally won't need a lawyer for a claim this size.

Keep copies of the original receipt, the store's written refusal, and any repair report you received. Bring all three documents to the hearing.
