Thanks for coming in today, Ms. Endo. I'd like to talk about the glucose tolerance test we've scheduled for next Thursday at Wollongong Hospital.
すみません、その検査は針を何度も刺すんですか？ちょっと不安なんですけど。
The test takes about two hours. You'll have a blood sample taken, then drink a sugary liquid, and have blood drawn again after one hour and two hours.
実は朝、よくむかむかするんです。検査の前に何か食べてもいいですか？
You must fast for at least eight hours beforehand. If you eat or drink anything except water, the results won't be accurate.
わかりました、水だけにします。もし結果が良くなかったら、どうなりますか？
If the results show gestational diabetes, we'll refer you to a dietitian and monitor your blood sugar levels regularly until delivery.
赤ちゃんに何か影響がありますか、心配で…
Most women manage it well with diet changes alone. Untreated, it can affect the baby's growth, but regular monitoring keeps both of you safe.

Your test is booked for 9am next Thursday. Please don't eat or drink anything but water after midnight the night before.
