Depression Screening Consultation
GP (speaking English) and Client (speaking Japanese) talk through “Depression Screening Consultation”. You interpret both ways — English into Japanese, and Japanese into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Thanks for coming in today, Mr. Tanaka. Can you tell me a little about how you've been feeling over the past fortnight, especially your mood?
正直、あまり良くないです。何もやる気が起きなくて、食欲も全然ありません。
How has your sleep been lately, and have you had any thoughts of harming yourself or that life isn't worth living?
眠りはとても浅くて、一晩に四時間しか眠れません。でも、自分を傷つけたいとは思っていません。
I'd like to set up a Mental Health Care Plan so Medicare can help cover sessions with a psychologist, and give you Lifeline's number for extra support.
その心理士に会うまで、どれくらい待たなければなりませんか?
Usually within two weeks, but if your mood doesn't improve before then, please call Lifeline any time, day or night, or come back sooner.
分かりました。もし薬を処方される場合、副作用はありますか?
Some antidepressants can cause mild nausea, headache, or drowsiness at first, but these side effects usually settle within a week or two, so please persevere.
分かりました。次の診察はいつ来ればいいですか?
Let's book you in for a follow-up appointment in two weeks, right after your first session with the psychologist, so we can check your progress.
ありがとうございます。今日は話を聞いていただいて、少し気持ちが楽になりました。
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
- mental health care plan「メンタルヘルスケアプラン」とカタカナで説明し、必要なら『GPが作成する、Medicareの補助を受けられる心のケア計画』と補足する。
- medicare固有名詞としてそのまま「Medicare」と言う。日本の健康保険とは制度が異なるため『健康保険』と訳さず、Medicareのまま伝えるのが安全。
- lifeline団体名としてそのまま「Lifeline」と発音する。

Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Japanese dialogues · All languages
