Joining the Library and Asking About Classes
Librarian (speaking English) and Patron (speaking Mandarin) talk through “Joining the Library and Asking About Classes”. You interpret both ways — English into Mandarin, and Mandarin into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Full transcript
Good morning! Welcome to City of Sydney Library. Are you here to join today? I'll just need to see some identification, like your passport or driver's licence.
Yes, we also need proof of your current address—such as a recent utility bill or your Medicare card. A driver's licence works too if you already have one with you.
As a member, you can borrow up to twenty items at a time, and everything is due back within three weeks unless you renew it online.
We run free English conversation classes every Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, right here at the library, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Yes, you'll need to register for the class online beforehand. If you haven't signed up in advance, unfortunately you won't be able to join on the day.
There's also a storytime session for children under five every Friday, and it's completely free of charge—no bookings are required at all.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Mandarin dialogues · All languages
