Thank you for coming in today. Your blood test results show you're HIV positive, and I'd like to talk through what this means and the treatment options available.

We'll start you on antiretroviral therapy, a daily tablet that keeps the virus suppressed. It doesn't cure HIV, but it controls it effectively, and most people tolerate it well.
මේ බෙහෙත් ගත්තහම මට අතුරු ආබාධ එනවද? මට කන්තෝරුවට යන්න බැරි වෙයිද?
Some people notice mild nausea in the first fortnight, but it usually settles. I'll refer you to a specialist at St Vincent's Hospital for ongoing care.

With a valid Medicare card, this treatment costs very little out of pocket. Without Medicare, we can still connect you with subsidised services, so please don't worry.

We'll check your blood every three months to monitor your CD4 count and viral load, which tells us how well treatment is working.

We won't disclose your diagnosis to anyone, including partners, without your consent, unless there's a serious risk. Our counsellor can help you decide how to tell them.

Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
