Dental Extraction Referral
Dentist (speaking English) and Patient (speaking Cantonese) talk through “Dental Extraction Referral”. You interpret both ways — English into Cantonese, and Cantonese into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Thanks for coming in today, Mr. Cheng. Can you tell me when the tooth pain started and whether it gets worse when you bite down?
由星期一開始痛,依家一咬嘢就痛到好犀利,尤其係食硬嘢嗰陣時。
Are you currently taking any medication, including blood thinners or aspirin, and do you have any allergies to anaesthetic or antibiotics?
我冇對麻醉藥或者抗生素敏感,不過我因為心臟病,每日都要食緊薄血藥。
The lower right tooth is badly decayed and needs extraction. I'll refer you to the oral surgery unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
咁大概要等幾耐先做到手術呀?如果唔盡快做,會唔會發炎添呀?
If the infection isn't treated within two weeks, it could spread to your jaw, so I'd like the surgeon to see you by next Friday.
咁Medicare會唔會俾番啲手術費呀?我都幾擔心成個手術費用好貴。
Medicare doesn't cover most dental surgery, but if you have private extras cover, it may pay a portion of the surgical cost.
如果我冇買醫療保險,可唔可以同醫院商量下,分期俾手術費呀?
Yes, the hospital offers a payment plan, and you can discuss weekly instalments with their finance office when you attend your appointment.
明白晒,多謝你解釋得咁清楚,我會準時去覆診同做手術嘅。
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
- medicare直接講「Medicare」呢個英文詞就得,因為係專有名詞,廣東話冇對應詞。
- extras cover講「附加保障」或者「額外保險項目」都得,講清楚係Medicare以外嘅額外保險部分。
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Cantonese dialogues · All languages
