I'm Constable Lee, and I have your call logged about last night's break-in while you were away. Can you walk me through exactly what happened?
Thank you. Around what time did you last leave the house, and did you notice anything missing when you returned?
Was the back door locked when you left, or had the lock already been broken before last night?
I'll register this as a break-and-enter case and give you an official report number, which you'll need for your insurance claim. Please don't touch the door until forensics have finished examining it.
Yes, here is your event number: BE2026-004521. You can also verify the case status via the NSW Police Community Portal or the Police Assistance Line, 131 444.
I'd recommend installing deadlocks and a security camera. Also, avoid leaving spare keys outside, as that increases burglary risk.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.
