Hello, I'm Sarah, the palliative care nurse from Sydney Local Health District. I'd like to discuss your father's comfort care plan for the next 48 hours, if that's alright.
If his pain increases, we will give him more morphine promptly, following the doctor's orders. He won't feel any unnecessary discomfort, I promise you that.
It's completely normal for him not to eat much now; his body doesn't need it. Please don't force food, small sips of water are enough for comfort.
Yes, family can stay overnight without any restriction. Visiting hours are open twenty-four hours a day here at the hospital, so you're welcome anytime.
We have a hospital chaplain available if you'd like spiritual support at any time. We will always respect your family's Hindu rites and customs fully.
In the final hours, his breathing may change and he may become less responsive; this is a natural part of the process. Please call the nurse any time, we're always here.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
