Infringement Notice for Shoplifting
Legal Aid Solicitor (speaking English) and Client (speaking Mandarin) talk through “Infringement Notice for Shoplifting”. You interpret both ways — English into Mandarin, and Mandarin into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

You have received an infringement notice for shoplifting from a supermarket. In New South Wales, you have 28 days from the issue date to either pay the fine or challenge it.
谢谢你的解释。请问这28天是从我收到通知的那天算起,还是从超市开出通知的那天开始算呢?
The 28 days start from the notice's issue date, not receipt. You can pay online via Revenue NSW, or dispute it and elect a court hearing via Revenue NSW.
明白了。那如果我在28天内没有处理,会有什么后果吗?会不会影响我的信用记录?
If you don't respond, the matter will be referred to Revenue NSW for enforcement, which may include garnisheeing your wages or suspending your driver’s licence.
其实我并不是故意拿走的,可能是忘了付钱。这种情况可以申请撤销罚款吗?还是一定要去法庭?
If you wish to dispute the charge, you must notify Revenue NSW in writing within the 28-day period, requesting the fine be withdrawn, or the matter may proceed to court.
如果去法庭的话,会不会留下犯罪记录?这对我以后找工作或者办移民会有影响吗?
A criminal record isn’t guaranteed—if the magistrate accepts your explanation, the charge could be dismissed or you might receive a non-conviction order.
那我需要请律师吗?大概要花多少钱?如果我经济条件不好,有没有免费的法律援助?
Legal Aid NSW may cover your representation if you meet their means test; otherwise, you would need to arrange a private solicitor.
好,那我先去申请法律援助,如果不符合条件我就自己找律师;不管怎样我都得在28天内处理好,要么直接付款,要么提交申请。
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
- infringement notice译为“罚款通知书”或“违规罚单”。
- magistrate译为“地方法院法官”或“治安官”,视上下文清楚说明其审理案件的层级。
- legal aid译为“法律援助”,是标准且清晰的译法。

Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Mandarin dialogues · All languages
